เพื่อนำเงินรายได้ทูลเกล้าถวายสมทบทุนมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา ปรับปรุงภูมิทัศน์บริเวณศาลหลวงต้นไทร ตำบลการะเกด อำเภอเชียรใหญ่ จ. นครศรีธรรมราช

เป็นศาลหลวงที่สร้างโดยพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว จัดตั้งเมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 29 ตุลาคม 2547 และประกอบพิธีบวงสรวงอัญเชิญเทพารักษ์ ขึ้นประดิษฐ์ฐาน ณ ศาลต้นไทร หมู่ที่ 11 ตำบลการะเกด อำเภอเชียรใหญ่ จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช โดย ดร.สุเมธ ตันติเวชกุล กรรมการและเลขานุการมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา เป็นประธานในพิธีฯ ศาลต้นไทร

**ประวัติ**
อีกหนึ่งเรื่องราวของประวัติศาสตร์ที่เกี่ยวเนื่องกับการสร้างพระธาตุเมืองคอน และเรื่องราวปาฎิหารย์ต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้น กับการขุดคลองพระราชดำริ หรือ โครงการลุ่มน้ำปากพนัง “ศาลหลวงต้นไทร” อยู่ในเขตพื้นที่ป่าสงวนแห่งชาติ ป่าท่าช้างข้าม ม. 11 ตำบลการะเกด อำเภอเชียรใหญ่ ได้ติดโครงการพระราชดำริ เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2538 จากนั้นกรมชลประทานจึงได้เข้ามาดำเนินการโครงการ และได้นำเครื่องจักรกลเข้ามาเพื่อทำการขุดในพื้นที่แห่งนี้ และเมื่อมีเครื่องจักรกลเข้ามาในพื้นที่บริเวณที่ต้นไทรอยู่ ก็ได้เกิดเหตุการณ์ขึ้นหลายอย่างกับเครื่องจักรกล และคนขับ โดยรถที่นำมาขุดก็ได้ดับลง คนขับก็ได้เห็นภาพลวงตาต่าง ๆ จนเสียสติ สุดความสามารถที่จะดำเนินการได้
จึงต้องทิ้งโครงการไว้เป็นแรมปี เพราะขุดต้นไทรไม่ได้ และเมื่อทราบถึงพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวเมื่อวันที่ 16 พฤศจิกายน 2545 โดยนายจำนูญ พลายด้วง ได้กราบทูลให้ทรงทราบที่ จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงทราบถึงผลกระทบ ก็ได้มีดำรัสให้เว้น ห้ามทำลายและให้อนุรักษ์ไว้ และได้มีตัวแทนจากเลขาสำนักพระราชวังและองคมนตรี อธิบดีกรมชลประธานมาดูเพื่อยืนยันจากกรมชลประ
ธานฝ่ายก่อสร้างว่าดำเนินการไม่ได้จริง และได้สร้างศาลขึ้น ชื่อว่า “ศาลหลวงต้นไทร” โดย สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดา สยามบรมราชกุมารี ได้มาวางศิลาฤกษ์เมื่อวันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ 2547 การสร้างศาลหลวงต้นไทรในครั้งนั้นก็ได้งบในการปรับปรุงพัฒนามาจากมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา 11 ล้านบาท ซึ่งได้พัฒนาหลายขั้นตอน เพื่อให้เป็นที่สักการะบูชา และได้เปิดเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 29 ตุลาคม 2547
